After selling our house in Florida we were looking for a new one in the North Georgia Mountains, good school districts, close to our business, large kitchen, open floor plan, paved road, view but not falling off the mountain, enough parking space for our cars and RV, perfect size for all of us however still within our price range. The more we looked, the longer the list got. Yes, as a former real estate broker I did understand that I was going to have to give up some of the “must-have” items. After searching and driving around for over two months we have finally decided that finding a house we somewhat might like is more like a mission impossible. I am pretty sure we have looked at every single house on the market within 30 minutes drive from our photography studio. So faced with a choice of purchasing a house we would have to completely remodel or building something from scratch, weighing out our options (which were not many) we decided to buy land and again build our dream home.
So, here we go again. New home here we come… from the beginning. We quickly realized finding land we can build on is not so easy. From permits to soil test, from streams you cannot touch, a whole new very unknown world to us.
